ServSafe Practice Exam

Accessibility Statement

Effective date: November 1, 2026 · Last updated: November 1, 2026

This site helps food service workers and managers practice for ServSafe exams. That includes people who use a screen reader, people who use only a keyboard, people on a phone, and people whose first language is not English.

This page sets out where the site stands for them.

1. Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

We have not completed a formal third-party audit, so this is a target and has not been certified.

2. What we have built in

  • Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, so screen readers can navigate the page.
  • Keyboard operability throughout, including the mock exam: options, flagging, navigation and the question navigator are all reachable and usable without a mouse.
  • Visible focus states on interactive elements.
  • We aim for WCAG AA color contrast on body text and interface elements.
  • Correct and incorrect answers are labeled in text as well as color, so the feedback works without color perception.
  • Responsive layouts that work down to small phone screens and reflow without horizontal scrolling.
  • Descriptive link text, and accessible names on icon-only controls.

3. Known limitations

  • The mock exam timer counts down without an audible or non-visual warning as time runs short.
  • We have not completed formal screen reader testing across NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.
  • We do not offer a text-to-speech read-aloud of questions.
  • The site is available only in English. ServSafe's online Manager exam is available in English, Spanish and Chinese, and its Food Handler course in English and Spanish.
  • No formal independent accessibility audit has been carried out.

4. Support available for the real exam

Separately from this website, ServSafe's Manager FAQ says examinees can request an exam accommodation from the National Restaurant Association.

The FAQ says accommodations must be approved in advance. If an examinee asks for one at the time of the exam without pre-approval, the options are to postpone the exam or take it without the accommodation. Check servsafe.com for the current process.

5. Reporting a problem

If you cannot use part of this site, email [email protected] and tell us what happened, which page, and what you were using, such as a screen reader, magnifier or keyboard only.

We aim to respond within five business days. Accessibility reports get the same priority as a factual error.
